Queen Latifah is a strong, powerful role model to women of all colors everywhere, so it's very sad to hear that she was sexually abused.
The Queen is speaking out for the first time about being a victim of sexual abuse as a child.
In an interview in the July 2009 issue of Essence magazine, Latifah says a teenage babysitter tried to get his way with her, leaving her unable to form relationships as an adult.
"He violated me. I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length. I never really let a person get too close to me. I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue."
Rise up La. This ordeal should never be put on anyone! Ladies first. . . ladies first.
